Don’t Buy It

“Gotta keep all of us docile and fit, gotta keep everyone buying this shit.”  Roger Waters.*

As everybody is aware, there is a fascist coup attempt happening in the U.S. Dismantling, deporting and firing has run amok. This process – probably unconstitutional and illegal – resembles the initial restructurings of the bureaucracy that led to Stalin’s unfortunate control of the Soviet Union in the late 1920s.

The operative word is purges. The aim is unambiguous political compliance and control.

It occurs to me that Elon Musks position in the U.S. shadow government will soon jeopardize his commercial interests. Imagine all the Tesla-owning Democrats having serious misgivings about their personal contributions to Musk’s wealth. Complaining about it on X (formerly Twitter) – which, incidentally, has been run into the ground financially since Musk’s hostile buyout – only demonstrates a sad complicity in aggravating the problem. The problem, simply put, is Musk.

Stop buying his fucking cars and using his platform, people.

Eventually, I believe his bottom line will suffer as a consequence of his reckless totalitarian fantasies. And that leads me to Trump himself. Whatever his many negative campaign promises have been, polls infer that ‘fixing the economy’ is Trump’s primary selling point. We only need to observe his quick retreats regarding Canada and Mexico once the stock market began to plunge. A great deal of Trump’s power – perceived or actual – is market performance.

Therefore, I believe it’s time to Stop Buying Shit.

Bring the fascist economy down!**

Once Trump supporters stop supporting Trump, they will kick him to the curb just as Republicans did to Nixon.

Act now. If you don’t absolutely need it, don’t buy it.

Don’t Buy It.

* Original lyric to “You Gotta Be Crazy” which became “Dogs” on the Pink Floyd album Animals.

** Don’t wanna hear about “jobs.” Quitting cigarettes leads to jobs lost. So what. Fuck those fuckers!
